What happens when a plumbing call goes to voicemail

Abstract illustration of a phone ringing at night

When a pipe bursts at 2 AM, the homeowner isn’t shopping around. They want the first plumber who answers. If your line rings out, they hang up and dial the next number on the list.

Few callers leave a message

A voicemail greeting asks a stressed customer to wait. Most won’t. The ones who do often leave a name and nothing else, so you call back into another voicemail in the morning.

Do the math for your shop

  • Count the calls you missed last week, including after hours.
  • Guess how many of them would have booked. Half is a fair start.
  • Multiply by your average job value.

Five missed calls a week at $350 a job adds up to thousands a month. The missed-call calculator on our home page does this for you.

What answering every call looks like

An answering agent picks up on the first ring, takes the address and the problem, and decides what happens next: a live transfer for an emergency, a booked window for a routine job, or a message for you.
